Timeless images
Me and my music blasting regime again. Playing a new version of 21 Guns. This is one song that will remain as my favourite for many more years later.

Everlasting songs and timeless images are what keep us glued to them.
What make an image timeless. I stumbled upon a blog entry by Ryan Brenizer. The man said it all. Everything changes with time. Our photography gear/tricks, image processing software, internet, fashion, hair style… heck, even we change (wiser and more crinkles)!
However, emotions are timeless. Capturing raw moments and emotions are timeless because they are preserved forever in images. Often (myself included) are too hung up on sharpness (still important but not the most), the latest gear and post process technique. Leaving out the important connection that images are suppose to reach out to viewers. Let moments and emotions be the centre stage of all images including weddings. Though, I must say it is no easy feat.
It prompted me (an excuse to go out and shoot) to take a drive to Putrajaya recently for a relaxing stroll and lookout for some inspirations with Miss AC. Putrajaya is a popular choice for many pre-wedding shoots. We weren’t prepared for anything fancy; no make-up, no colourful dress, no 42″ umbrella lights, no voice activated light. But just my trusty D700 with 70-200 zoom. And I made some of these simple shots. Simple enough to be timeless.
** Kesha’s Tick Tock playing now **
Have always wanted to do this shot after seeing one did by Joe McNally. Long zoom (200mm), wide aperture (F/2.8) and a long corridor. OK so Joe did with a F/2.0 lens with a softbox. I did not bring my softbox nor I have the same lens.
Head-shots are still my favourite portraiture. Hence, I couldn’t resist doing one when I spotted this.
Just like great wines and Green Day’s 21 Gun, all images should age well. Unlike Kesha’s Tick Tock (likely a 1 hit wonder) where I know I will grow tired of it soon.
All images are shot under available light (morning sunshine) on Aperture priority. Images are processed using LR2 for colour consistency and CS4 for finishing with borders. Yup, it is that simple.
