… and finally, my last stop; Sibu.
Quaint little town. Apart from the occasional 3G signal on my phone, Sibu was very much a cowboy town. With very little expectation (which is good), and I enjoyed it !
Sibu is still very much virgin as there isn’t many tourist in the town. Heck, there isn’t many tourist activities / spots. Nevertheless, it has its charm. And the followings shots summarised what is Sibu.
Here is a bird view of the busy district near Central Market and the famous Sarawak river Rejang.

Past and present at the same time
If “kon-lo mee” signify Sarawak, Sibu town’s “kong-pia” is its trademark. Served in two variety, savoury or sweet. Best eaten with a local “kopi” (coffee).

From start to ready to eat..
The nite market which was listed as an attraction was unfortunately over hyped in my view. Ain’t much stores nor choice of food. And many selling similar foodstuff such as these “dim sum”.

A common sight in the local nite market
Central Market was the place for much of the actions. It was huge with hundreds of stores selling from vege, to meat to livestock. Highly recommended.

Market place that is filled with characters
Live chicken sold in paper-wrap seemed convenient. Only in Sibu !

Chicks to go
The cineplex next to my hotel boast latest movie selection in modern comfort with digital sound system and even 3-D. How about that. However the tix system was very much manual (pen and paper). Cheapest movie slot was merely RM7.

RM7 tix for a 2010 movie, is that cool or what
Jade Dragon is a new temple just out of Sibu, 25min drive. Completed earlier this year. The place was huge, biggest in the region. I wish I could come again to capture the temple. I arrived at 3pm and it was just too hot. So my apology for the lack of pix.

It is all in the detail - Jade Dragon Temple
However I was blessed with a nice sunset when I visited the old temple in the city. Well kept and I must say the temple caretaker were really nice folks. They even invited me to visit their locked pagoda to get a better view.

Magnificent!

A pano shot of the temple
Sibu ain’t much and ain’t as popular as the other cities. Life here were pretty simple and uncongested. 3 days in this town may seemed a lifetime for many, but it was a relaxing 3 days for me. Come with an open mind.
Judging by the number of shots posted, Sibu is definitely a hidden gem.

It did looked like a romantic place
This conclude my Tale of 4 Cities. Tiring yes. Happy, uber happy !
Till next trip…
Technical : Same old, all shots handheld and processed with LR. Used CS for some creative effects (1st shot).
